What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a powerful mechanical exfoliation with an expensive machine, generally either the original crystal microdermabrasion technology or the newer diamond-tip microdermabrasion.

It works by removing the uppermost layer of dead skin cells from the face.

Will I experience any discomfort?
Initially you may feel a mild scratching sensation as the crystals make contact with the skin. As the treatments continue, the experience is comparable to a deep massage. Mild redness may occur ½ hour to 1day, depending on the aggressiveness of the program.
What results can I expect?
Depending on the area treated, you will notice an improvement in your skins appearance; acre scars will become less obvious. Age spots and fine lines are erased and may patients report that their skin seems to be softer, smoother and younger looking.

How will I look after the treatment?
Skin will look slightly flushed immediately after the treatment, but returns to normal in about 30minutes. Even after 1 sitting the skin appears smoother and will continue to improve with further sittings.
Any patients who should not undergo the treatment?
Do not get microdermabrasion if you have extremely sensitive skin, vascular conditions like rosacea, skin inflammation, bacterial infections, lack of touch sensation, tendency to keloid scarring, or have gotten Botox within 72 hours. Other contraindications to microdermabrasion include sunburn, viral infections like herpes simplex, and acne. If you are taking anti-coagulant drugs please inform the doctor.
What to do before the sittings?
Stop all skin care products, retinoids for 1week before microdermabrasion. Continue using good quality moisturizers.
What to do after the treatment session?
Use sunscreen, avoid direct sunlight, retinoid creams for 3-4days.
